What's that? More Bob Oksner? Well, if you insist. The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis was a TV show that was on the air from 1959-1963. The series was based on a series of short stories starring the character Dobie Gillis by the author Max Shulman. The series was notable for being the first television series to portray teenagers as the main characters on a major network. It also depicted the counterculture (as influenced by The Beat Generation), albeit a sanitized version of it, with the character Maynard G. Krebs as played by Bob Denver. Both issues below were drawn by Bob Oksner, who is arguably at the peak of his style at this time. His ink line is confident, sure and feels effortless. Enjoy.
